Food Program
The Galiano Community Food Program works to build community and food security on our small island. We hold community potlucks, weekly Soup and Bread lunches and monthly Games Nights, plus organize Gleaning, Frozen Meals for Seniors, a Garlic Coop, Cheese Club, Workshops, School Garden Programs and much more.

Club Parks & Programs
The Galiano Club owns and maintains the South Community Hall, as well as over 830 acres of parkland on Galiano Island, British Columbia, Canada including Bluffs Park, Mount Galiano and the Community Forest. The Club runs the Community Food Program, is the home of the Galiano Players Theatre, hosts the Annual Blackberry Festival and Christmas Market. The Galiano Club was founded in 1924.

Community Hall
The Hall is a hub of the Galiano community and many of our local events are held there on an ongoing basis. It is also a favourite place for concerts, dances, weddings, plays, exhibitions, lectures, etc. The kitchen has convection ovens, industrial sinks, counters and cupboards and all manner of conveniences, and we’re quite proud of it.

SLOG Report by Colleen Doty
How did your garden grow this year? Maybe it’s still growing. Or, maybe life got in the way of those good intentions in the spring, the promising dance of dried seeds in the paper packet that got forgotten in the cupboard, and things never really germinated the way you’d hoped. With the dark damp days upon us it’s the time of year we tend to burrow down and take stock of where we’re at: what worked, what didn’t, and what might we do differently next time.
The Seed Library of Galiano (SLOG) would like to know how your edible garden grew […]
Garlic co-op
Do you like garlic? The Garlic Co-op is a group of garlic enthusiasts who collectively grow a few varieties of organic premium garlic, with scapes, in a large, shared, sunny plot at the south end of the island. Together we learn about this easy-to-grow, hardy crop, share the load of bed-preparation, seeding, weeding, mulching and harvesting, and enjoy some delicious garlic. Everyone is welcome, and no previous experience is required to join. Now that it’s fall we’re getting ready to plant our bulbs at our brand-new site! If you’re interested in checking […]

Seed Saving Session – Saturday, November 12th, 11am
Please join us at the Community Greenhouse at the school garden for a hands-on session, led by Galiano Conservancy Food Forester Cedana Bourne and the Food Program’s Barry New, to prepare some of our seed harvest. We will get together for threshing, winnowing and learning to process some difficult-to-save seeds. Please bring your gatherings and some containers for the seeds. Paper bags and envelopes are best. All are welcome, even if you didn’t grow any seeds this year: just bring your questions and curiosity. Free for SLOG, GCA, or Greenhouse Community Members. By donation otherwise. Any questions? Please contact Barry […]
