In conjunction with our GIRR Repair Workshop Series, this time around we’re hosting a clothing swap alongside our clothing repair station. Bonus: minor alternations will be available too.
For the swap, everyone is invited to bring a maximum of 5 items of clothing from your closet. Choose items that you would be happy to receive, but perhaps no longer suit your needs. We’ll be ready to welcome you and your offerings at the Galiano Island South Community Hall on Saturday April 8th at 1:30 pm. Come prepared to share what you bring and find new treasures to take home. At 4:30 we’ll be packing it all up in preparation to take the remaining items for donation to a local charity.
And yes, if the clothing swap isn’t your thing, you can still come in with an item for mending. Sit in on the repair and learn some tips from our expert sewers & repairers.
Our goal with GIRR’s Repair Workshop Series is to keep items in use and out of the heavily burdened waste management system before their time; and to get us all thinking about making wiser consumer choices. We’re very excited to be able to offer this program to our community!
Many thanks to the CRD for their support of this series through their Rethink Waste Community Grant.
