CONSTITUTION OF THE GALIANO CLUB
1. This Club shall be called THE GALIANO CLUB
The charity shall be carried on without purpose of gain for its members, and any profits or other gains to the charity shall be used in promoting its purposes.
2. The objects of the Society shall be:
(a) to encourage social, recreational, cultural and educational activity on Galiano Island.
(b) to maintain a public community hall for the benefit of individuals who wish to use it in accordance with the above purposes.
(c) to hold and administer lands as described in the Bluffs Park and the Mount Galiano Trust Agreements, as directed therein.
(d) to hold and administer heritage forest lands (zone FH) in accordance with heritage forest covenants on such lands.
(e) to promote food security on Galiano Island through a Food Program which provides food, promotes gardening, farming and other food related initiatives, including workshops and production of agricultural products.
3. The operations of the Society are to be carried out on the Southern Gulf Islands, principally on Galiano Island.
4. In the event of dissolution of The Galiano Club, any assets remaining after the payment of all debts and obligations shall be distributed to a recognized charitable institution in the Province of British Columbia with similar objectives, or to a suitable level of local government as directed by the members of The Galiano Club, and that these provisions with reference to dissolution and public access are unalterable. The recognized charitable institution in the Province of British Columbia to which any remaining property shall be distributed shall be a qualified donee described in subsection 149.1 (a) of the Income Tax Act.
