- The Galiano Club recognizes the critical importance of volunteers in providing the programs and services of the Galiano Club.
- The Galiano Club attempts to have the Board and non-Board volunteers reflect the diversity of the community.
- The Galiano Club is committed to recognizing the contribution of volunteers.
These procedures apply to the Galiano Club generally
Procedures:
- The Governance and Nominations Committee is responsible for recruiting, screening and orientation of Board members.
- In addition to working to have the Board reflect the diversity of the community, other factors considered are compatibility with a working Board and the need for Board members and committee members to have a passion for the services.
- Various strategies are used to involve a diverse volunteer base both for the Board and non-Board volunteers.
- Volunteers will be recognized in various ways across the various programs of the Galiano Club and annually specific volunteers will be recognized at the Annual General Meeting for their contributions.
These Procedures apply only to the volunteers associated with the Food Bank.
Procedures:
- The Executive Director is responsible for the recruitment, screening, orientation and supervision of Food Bank volunteers.
- Food Bank volunteers are drawn from the existing Galiano Club volunteers.
- The Food Bank volunteers are provided with an orientation to this initiative within the Food Program, including signing the Galiano Club Volunteer Agreement and the Food Bank Confidentiality Agreement and reviewing the relevant policies and procedures.
- Where necessary and/or based on the volunteer’s interest, specialized training will be provided.
- Food Bank volunteers are encouraged to offer feedback on ways to improve the overall functioning of the Galiano Club Food Bank.
