Policy:

  1. Written job descriptions are maintained for every position. All job descriptions include the required qualifications, performance expectations and responsibilities of the position.
  2. The Galiano Club’s job descriptions are reviewed regularly to ensure required qualifications remain relevant.
  3. The Galiano Club is committed to supporting employees by providing ongoing feedback and development of career goals through both supervision and a regular performance review (anniversary meeting).

 

Procedures:

  1. The Executive Director is responsible for employee performance management and the Board is responsible for performance management of the Executive Director.
  2. All employees are expected to work collaboratively by developing strong employment relationships, attending scheduled meetings, and seeking assistance when necessary.
  3. The Executive Director will provide direction and support to employees, to ensure that they understand the performance expectations of their positions and to explain expected workplace behaviour.
  4. Employees are held accountable for their assigned duties and responsibilities through a range of regular supervisory activities, such as informal feedback, regular supervisory meetings and an annual performance review.
  5. All employees are involved in their own performance review process, including documenting their accomplishments, identifying their goals and determining the means to achieve them.
  6. A formal written performance review is completed with all employees at the end of the probationary period, and at least once every two years thereafter. The written performance review will be signed by both the Executive Director and the employee.
  7. As part of the performance review, job descriptions are reviewed.
  8. For the Executive Director, the Governance and Nominations Committee will take the lead in Performance Management, making recommendations to the whole Board on compensation.
