The following Ethical Code Declaration will be signed on an annual basis:
- by Board members at the first Board meeting following the AGM,
- by Galiano Club members participating on committees but who are not on the Board
- by staff members in conjunction with their annual review
- by volunteers annually
I commit myself to fulfill the following obligations to the best of my ability:
1. I will adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, uphold the Galiano Club’s constitution, bylaws and policies.
2. I will work to ensure that the Galiano Club accomplishes its identified goals ethically.
3. I will treat staff, volunteers and those who access services with dignity, respect, fairness and without discrimination (as outlined in the BC Human Rights Code).
4. I will respect the privacy of others and maintain appropriate confidentiality of any personal information which may be obtained in the course of my work for the Galiano Club.
5. I will represent the Galiano Club mission and activities to the larger community accurately, honestly and completely.
6. I will work cooperatively with other individuals and organizations, where applicable, to further the mission of the Galiano Club.
7. If I feel that I may be in a conflict of interest, potential conflict of interest or circumstances would interfere with fulfillment of my role, I will immediately notify my supervisor (staff and volunteers) or the Board of Directors (directors).

As a Board Member, I additionally commit myself to fulfilling the following obligations to the best of my ability:
8. I will meet the responsibilities of duty of care, duty of loyalty, duty of compliance, independent board representation and unrelated board representation as defined in the Galiano Club’s Governance policies.
9. I will perform my governance duties with due diligence, honesty, in good faith and in the best interests of the Galiano Club, its viability, long-term success and positive reputation
10. I will behave as an ambassador of the Galiano Club and speak in public in accordance with the organization’s resolutions and policies.
